MAKING CHANGE POSSIBLE

At Keep It Going, our focus is on children who have lost a parent. We want to encourage them to keep focused on the positive things in life by assisting with expenses for any extracurricular activities they show interest in. A little support can make a huge difference in a child’s future. We will also assist parents in finding resources to teach them to recognize grief and show them how to comfort their child so that they can grow through it.

OUR FOUNDER

Kami Garcia

2021 was the hardest year for us. I said my last goodbye to my sister-in-law. She had 4 children at that time her youngest son (my nephew) was 7yrs old. She passed Jan 6th. Ten days later I was in Idaho holding my little brother’s hand as he took his final breath. I helped my nephew, had him at my house constantly so he could be around my kids and help him deal with the loss of his mother. Then in May we found out my kid’s father had cancer. We had to put him on life support on our youngest daughter’s 3rd birthday, May 17, he passed 8 minutes after on May 18th. I realized that through my pain my kids were experiencing the same pain but really didn’t know how to express it, so I signed them up for football where they took off with it. We have gained a huge family of mentors, coaches, teammates (brothers) who are positive and they help keep my kids motivated and redirect them when they feel like giving up. In October 2022, I gained custody of my bonus sons (my children’s brother and his little brother) and shortly after their mother was killed. My prayer since we lost their dad has been for wisdom and knowledge on how to comfort not only my kids but everyone around me who is dealing with this. Everyone tells me how respectful my kids are and how they look so happy even though they have been through so much. That is when I realized I wanted to help other children who are going through the same pain.
